Carbonless copying principle

Color development achieved through microcapsule technology: The back of the top sheet (CB paper) is coated with microcapsules containing “pressure-sensitive pigment oil”; the surface of the bottom sheet (CF paper) is coated with a color developer. Writing or printing pressure ruptures the microcapsules, causing the colorless dye to come into contact with the color developer and undergo a chemical reaction, producing colored text and graphics.

Middle sheet (CFB): Color developer coated on the front, microcapsules coated on the back (core carbonless layer)
Bottom sheet (CF): Color developer coated only on the front
